Spring 2018 Summary
M&M Voice Studio
It has been a busy semester for M&M Voice Studio! Students competed in District Junior Music Festival at Poteau on Saturday, April 8th. I am proud to say that every student succeeded in receiving a superior rating in their auditions and advanced to the District Play-Offs that same evening, which is like a second round where they perform in front of a large audience and are critiqued on their performance. The students that performed in the Play-Offs were 5th grader Chloe Henry, 4th grader Gracie Jaramillo, and SHS Ensemble, including members: Madison Osborne, Hannah Hurst, Adonis Wilson, and MaAliyah Whitfield. I am pleased to announce that Chloe Henry was listed as an alternate for State in the Elementary Musical Theatre category, Gracie Jaramillo was listed as the winner for the Elementary Musical Theatre category and also for the Elementary Vocal Art Song category, and SHS Ensemble was listed as the winner for the Senior Ensemble category. All winners of a category have the option of competing at the State level.
Gracie Jaramillo and the SHS Ensemble competed at the State Junior Music Festival in Ada, OK on Saturday, April 28th. Gracie Jaramillo was announced as the winner for the Elementary Musical Theatre category and also for the Elementary Vocal Art Song category and SHS Ensemble was selected as the winner for the Senior Ensemble category. The winners received a nice plaque. It was a great day of music and these students represented the voice studio and Spiro very well!
Chloe Henry and Gracie Jaramillo also participated in the M&M Voice Studio Spring Recital on Wednesday, May 9th. They both did an excellent job performing their songs from Junior Music Festival. Both Chloe and Gracie received certificates for their superior ratings at District Junior Music Festival and Gracie also received her first gold cup for earning 15 points through the festival in the Musical Theatre category!

Up-And-Coming Young Musicians Concert!
Local students will perform in a short FREE concert open to the public and then performers and other guests will be provided refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with music club members of Poteau Musical Arts. M&M Voice Studio is proud that we have 2 students participating in this event! If you are able to support Chloe and Gracie, we would love to have you there!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Our Studio Christmas Recital is right around the corner! Students are doing a wonderful job on their music and we hope to have friends and family join us as they demonstrate what they've been working on this semester.

Oclef
M&M Voice Studio is using a new app this year! Oclef connects music teachers and students in one place. This is a FREE app that I ask students to download to one or more devices. It has several tools that will enhance practice time for the student and provide easy tracking of progress that I can review to better assist each student. There is also the option of announcements that may apply to all studio members. This function is similar to the app “Remind”. If you have trouble finding the app or you do not know how to download it to your device, you may bring your device to your lesson and I will walk you through the process. I am very excited about the possibilities that may come with this app.
